This book teaches you how to play harmonica, it really does.The learning task has been pieced into small enough bites that it's almost painless.Just enough detail in the tablature/music is presented to be informative without being too complicated.For example, all of the licks are played in a shuffle style, but the written music is presented using straight eighth note notation.The shuffle is then subtly introduced on the CD.In an effort to mimic the CD, you'll end up shuffling, but you'll hardly think about it.The DVD is a nice surprise.There's a lot of material on it that's not even in the book.For example, David Barrett gives a perfect tutorial on bending draw reeds 1 through 6.If you've been scouring the internet trying to find a good bending lesson and have not been able to pick it up yet, you're like I was before I watched his tutorial.Now I've made a lot of progress.
Here comes the one bummer about this book.It's printed on such cheap paper that the covers and pages start to curl the moment you unwrap the book.
